See Jane Run, by Joy Fielding
On her way to buy milk and eggs,

in her coat pockets. She hides the evidence before going
to the police, and subsequently a hospital where she learns
she is suffering from hysterical amnesia.   Enter the perfect,
loving, gentle husband to take her home and take care of her.
Something isn't right? Can she figure it all out before she ends
 up in a mental hospital?
